Windhoek – Jacques Mushaandja and the Tschuku Tschukus band enthralled fans at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre when the first Acoustic Friday kicked off last Friday.

Despite the delay caused by the rain, the fans waited patiently for the stage to be moved into the gallery and the audience gave their enthusiastic support to Mushaandja and the Tschuku Tschukus band till the end.

Their fusion shambo, ethno-vocals, jazz, soul, beat, urban jive and traditional music elements produced a fine and organic Afro flow that kept the audience dancing non-stop and wanting more.

They performed songs such as ‘Ongovela’, ‘Ongolo’, ‘Uuyelele’, ‘Namib Sunset’, ‘Oyadhimbwa’ (they have forgotten), ‘Katutura’ and ‘Kolokasie’.

“I perform Ongolo to bring my ancestors closer to me,” said Mushaandja.

Show-goer Kristen Jose couldn’t hide her excitement. “Spectacular performance from them, they are so good, words can’t even describe it and I am so happy to see them on stage. They performed Kolokasie so good that I wanted them to repeat the song. The sound of the beats can hardly leave one siting,” she said.
