Windhoek

A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a man she mistook for her boyfriend on Saturday at about 01h00 at Kapps Farm informal settlement to the east of Windhoek.

The woman was apparently under the influence of alcohol when a 20-year-old man entered her room at around 01h00.

“She felt somebody on top of her and thought it was her boyfriend,” Inspector Slogan Matheus from the Police Public Relations Division told the media on Sunday.

After a short while, the woman’s boyfriend entered the room and the suspect hid under the bed. The victim then realised that the suspect was not her boyfriend, but by then he had escaped.

The suspect was however arrested and was expected to appear in court this week.
In a separate incident, a 14-year-old girl was found naked and unconscious in a pool of blood in Windhoek’s Lafrenz Industrial Area on Saturday. The child is currently receiving treatment at Katutura Intermediate Hospital. She was found at around 08h30 by a member of the public. Her face was swollen and her clothes were found lying next to her.

A resident of Okahandja Park informal settlement, she is said to be in critical condition. The suspect has not yet been arrested, but a case of attempted murder is under investigation.
