The much-anticipated 3rd edition of the annual MTC Sunshine Boxing Cup, which officially kicked off yesterday at the A. Shipena Secondary School hall, is expected to deliver some enthralling boxing action.

The tournament, which attracts boxers from all 14 regions, aims to develop amateur boxing while also strive to provide young pugilists with the much-needed exposure and a platform to showcase their skills.

The preliminaries already started on Wednesday, with the semi-finals taking place yesterday while finals are slated for today. Various winners will be handsomely rewarded, with awards ranging from Best Team and Best Boxer to Most Improved Boxer of the Tournament.

“The Khomas Region will go into this Cup confident as they look to defend their title as defending champions. This Cup is important for Namibian boxing because we not only develop our amateurs but also prepare them for national selection in our national teams.

We encourage all boxing enthusiast to come out and support these young talents. Entrance is free of charge,” said promoter Nestor Tobias.
