Rundu Vocational Training Centre (RVTC) is set to host this year’s Vocational Education Training Sport Union of Namibia (VETSUN) Games, from August 14 –-18 at the Dr Romanus Kampungu School field.

Being the main initiators of the games back in 2011, this is the second time the RVTC will host the event. “We want the public to come in numbers and support us during the games,” said Milton Mwiya, the RVTC liaison officer.
According to Mwiya, all is being thoroughly arranged to avoid mishaps “Preparations are underway starting from training to logistics.

We are making sure that everything is in place before the games kick off, and of course as the hosts we plan to win the tournament or at least do well in most of the codes,” Mwiya said.

Participating teams are Valombola VTC, Zambezi VTC, Nakayale VTC, Windhoek VTC, Eenhana VTC and Okakarara VTC, as well as a team from the National Youth Service (NYS). The teams will compete in various codes such as netball, football (male and female) and volleyball (male and female).

The games will be celebrated under the theme, ‘Sport adds to a healthy mind’, which aims to encourage all technical institutions to incorporate sports with education.

The visiting teams are expected to be entertained with a music show by Rundu’s finest artists, led by Kazla Jaiva, Besquare, Mundeke, Luke Na Nasty and many more.

With financial assistance from the Namibia Training Authority (NTA), all financial needs for the games are well taken care of.
