A 42-year old Finnish man was shot dead after bumping his Land Cruiser into another vehicle outside a pub early on Sunday morning.

Police Inspector Slogan Matheus said the incident happened at Joker’s Bar on Bell Street in the southern industrial area at around 00h30 on Sunday. Police investigators collected nine spent cartridges at the scene.

The victim, identified as Finnish national Ronni Marco Kristian Uolevi, was declared dead at the scene. “It is alleged that the deceased was driving a Land Cruiser and bumped another vehicle – a white Volkswagen Polo sedan – from behind. The driver of the Polo sedan jumped out of his vehicle and drew his firearm, a pistol. He shot randomly at the deceased’s vehicle and then drove away,” said Matheus.

The murder suspect is still at large and the police are working around the clock to track down the perpetrator, Matheus said.

In a second murder incident reported over the past week, a 19-year old woman, Heneliate Mwetiteya Shikongo, died after she was stabbed to death by her boyfriend at Ehambo da Nehale in Katutura on Thursday. Matheus said the man who killed her, Christof Ndemweetela, 25, killed himself shortly thereafter. The tragic incident unfolded on August 6 at about 11h00.

“The suspect then ran to his residence at Gabes Location in Katutura and hanged himself with a cable in his bedroom at 12h00,” Matheus confirmed. He said no suicide note was left behind.

At Dordabis, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed with a knife and killed by a 22-year old man while attending a memorial service on Friday. Quinton Doeseb died of his wounds upon arrival at Dordabis clinic.

“It is alleged that the deceased and the suspect were both attending a memorial service and that an argument ensued between the deceased and the suspect’s younger brother. The suspect intervened to protect his younger brother, which resulted in the stabbing of the deceased.”

Matheus said the suspect in the killing of Doeseb has been arrested and is due to appear before the Windhoek Magistrate court today.

Meanwhile, in the second such instance in recent weeks, an 11-year old boy committed suicide by hanging himself at Okashanakelago in Omuthiya, the police said. The deceased child has been identified as Andreas Kalumbu.

At Groot Aub, people building in the area discovered the remains of human skeletons on Friday morning. Matheus said the builders uncovered the remains while digging trenches to lay the foundation for a new house. He said the skeletal remains were taken to the police mortuary for forensic examination and the police investigation to determine its origin continues.
