Toinny Shityeni, a Grade 11 learner of the Nehale Senior Secondary School in the in the Onayena constituency in the Oshikoto region who dreams of becoming a Chartered Accountant says it is a great honour for her to receive a merit certificate and gold medal for being the best JSC Mathematics Candidate for 2014.
“Achieving an “A” symbol in Mathematics was not easy, it was all through hard work, sweat, tears, blood and determination, and most of all, these were all made possible by my subject teacher Mr. Simon Albin who was and still my favourite Mathematics teacher. I am proud to say that he is the reason why I scored 42 points in Grade 10, having eight As and one B in Geography.”
Johannes Megameno Johannes (in the middle), who wants to become an Economist, says he is proud to tell that hard work is the best gun that can lead to success. “It was a spectacular experience to have received an award for Mathematics. I am very excited because it is my first time I am receiving a gold medal in life. What a good surprise for us from our best teacher? It was not easy but the hard work, my effort and being committed, determined and not giving up easily did pay back today.”
Maria Shikolalye who wants to become a Nurse expresses gratitude to her school and also their best and hardworking Mathematics teacher, Mr Simon Albin. “He made us to do best in his subject and eventually awarding me in JSC Mathematics. I as a science learner, I want to become someone important in life and this is being a nurse. I know words are not adequate, or neither can I express how I am very cheerful and pleasant to receive a pen, merit certificate and gold medal from my hard work. Since 2013, Mr Albin has been my best Mathematics teacher and this is why I have done well in Mathematics.”
Selicky Amwaama, who wants to become an Auditor says appreciating the little things one have in life and being grateful for the little one has received just shows how humble you are. “I feel so special and very happy for receiving a merit gold medal. Having reached great heights in Grade 10 was not easy. I had to work hard every single second. To my fellow learners always reach for the stars so that when you fall, you fall amongst the stars and never let the sky be the limit. Never let anything holds you down and when you fall stand up and continue moving forward.”
Close to 55 learners currently in Grade 11 who passed with the A-symbol in the Mathematics subject last year’s Junior Secondary Certificate (JSC) National examination were awarded last Friday. They were awarded with the merit certificates and medals during the Candidates Awards Ceremony (CAC). According to Albin, the award ceremony was necessary to boost the morale of their learners and therefore for them to double their commitments toward their school work. “The practice of awarding learners with merit awards and medals at the school is so important to exponentially increase opportunities of our learners to successfully apply for scholarships of their careers after matriculation. I am one of the living testimonies for this practice,” says Albin.
He adds that he was vey much proud of his learners for working very smart to attain hundred percent pass during last year’s JSC National examinations, and especially 55 learners who scooped A symbol in Mathematics. “What motivated me most is the impact of my style of teaching on helping these learners to perform exceptionally well in the National examination. All learners in my class are expected to produce legible assignments and those who managed to obtain an “A” symbol have exceptionally good presentation skills,” he says.
