A policeman allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend before turning the gun on himself at Rosh Pinah yesterday morning.
The 32-year-old member of the Namibian police border guard allegedly killed his girlfriend aged 24 with a pistol before turning the pistol on himself at Scorpion Village at about 11h00.
The cause of the incident is not yet known, as police investigations into the murder and suicide continue.In a separate incident, a 30-year-old man was stabbed to death with a knife at a drinking place in Keetmanshoop on Saturday.
It is alleged that the 24-year-old stabbed the deceased with a knife on the side of his neck at Zidane Bar in Tseiblaagte on Saturday. The incident took place at about 01h00 and the victim died on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Anderies Goliath and his next of kin have not yet been informed, as the police are struggling to locate family members in Keetmanshoop.
The suspect has been arrested and is in police custody waiting to make his court appearance
In another incident, three suspects aged 33, 53 and 57 have been arrested for allegedly stealing two Damara sheep worth N$2 000.
It is alleged that they took the sheep from the grazing area at farm Vryheid in the Aroab district and slaughtered them without the owner’s consent.
The three suspects remain in police custody and investigations continue. In another separate sad incident, a Namibian Defence Force (NDF) member burned to death in his shack in Tseiblaagte’s Ileni location. The deceased identified as 48-year-old Sergeant Shilongo Tautilange allegedly died in his shack where he lived at about 02h00 last Friday.
An inquest docket has been opened and the body has been taken to the Keetmanshoop mortuary for a post mortem.
The deceased’s next of kin have been informed.
