The Chairperson of the National Council, Asser Kapere, on Sunday paid tribute to Councillor Ndapewa Nambili who died Saturday morning.
Nambili, 44, was serving her first term as Otavi Constituency councillor as well as a member of the National Council on a Swapo ticket.
Kapere, who worked with Nambili since she became a MP in 2010, described Nambili as one of the parliamentarians who was keen on resolving issues that dealt with the poor.
“She was one of the MPs who would complete tasks assigned to her with zeal and dedication much to the satisfaction of the council,” said Kapere.
Kapere said Nambili was also keen on addressing gender related issues and was one of the vocal MPs during discussions.
“Her death is not only a loss to the National Council, but her constituency and the country at large,” he said.
According to a report by Nampa, Otjozondjupa Regional Governor Otto Iipinge said Nambili was in hospital for about one month.
Nambili is the second National Council member to pass away this year following the death of former Swakopmund mayor and National Council member Germina Shitaleni in March.
Shitaleni, 45, had battled cancer for several years before succumbing to the illness in March.
