WINDHOEK – A woman who allegedly murdered her girlfriend in Katutura after the relationship went sour was denied bail when she appeared in the Katutura Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The murder took place last Saturday.
Games Ellencia, 26, appeared before magistrate Leopold Hangalo facing a charge of murder read with the Domestic Violence Act. The matter was remanded to March 27 to allow Ellencia to apply for legal aid as well as for further police investigations.

Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi informed the regular media briefing on Sunday that Ellencia and Yolande Jager, 36, the victim had an argument after their relationship landed on the rocks.

The incident occurred in Clemence Kapuuo Street in Katutura on Saturday at about 01h30. What sparked the argument is speculation about cheating, the deputy commissioner informed the media.

Witnesses at the scene informed the police Ellencia allegedly threatened to stab Jager during the argument before acting on the threat and stabbed Jager once in the chest, near her house.

Jager was rushed to the Katutura Intermediate Hospital in a taxi where she was declared dead.
Kanguatjivi added the object used in the stabbing was not known, but it is suspected a kitchen knife was used to fatally stab the lesbian victim.

Ellencia was arrested on Sunday.
