WINDHOEK – The Namibian capital was last week Friday abuzz with excitement as Scania launched its new trailer workshop to service and repair all GRW trailers.

Scania and GRW have a shared history and customer base in South Africa and Namibia. This has led to the obvious marriage between Scania and GRW to provide a trailer service and repair facility complying with international fuel certification and safety standards in Namibia.

Not only is the main focus on fuel tankers, but also on GRW refrigerated trailers.

“We are the only company in Namibia that has the state of the art facility to be able to address the needs of our customers. We are now able to do pressure testing on the trailers, de-gassing and general servicing,” said Jaco Zondagh, Regional After-sales Manager of Scania Namibia.

GRW announced during the event that Scania would from now on be the accredited sales and warranty facility in Namibia for the GRW brand. “In the near future, GRW will be providing open and flat bed trailers to Scania as part of the expansion plans,” said Gerhard van der Merwe, Chief Executive Officer and Shareholder of GRW.

The two companies have developed infrastructure that is world class and have invested heavily in technology and training of local Namibians to ensure that the skills remain within Namibia.

“The aim of the development is not only to satisfy our customers, and develop the capabilities and knowledge of Namibians, but also to ensure that industry has a partner that can be relied upon, to ensure the safe transportation of fuel and chemicals,” said Scania’s Managing Director Clifford Marchbank.
