AS things are evolving around me, I am left with no other option but to blend into the beautiful surroundings of growth and ongoing development.
Not even in my wildest dreams had I figured myself to be a writer, but destiny has a way of revealing one’s passion and purpose with time.
As the Regional Office Administrator at the Keetmanshoop’s New Era office, I have been blessed to learn new things on a daily basis since when I started two years ago. During my probation period I was often in panic mode because I was worried that my shy and reserved personality would be misinterpreted as being aloof and interfere with my performance. Luckily that was not the case, which resulted in my permanent appointment in April this year. Thanks to God.
I am from Berseba Village in the far south, situated 100 km north-west of Keetmanshoop near the Brukaros Mountain, a famous tourist destination. I was raised by a strong woman, a single parent who inspires me to be the best and believe in myself. After matriculation in 2006 at Suiderlig High, I explored different kinds of employment from where I gained valuable experience. However, it is only when I started working for New Era that the writing bug bit me.
At first I was a bit scared, because I have no formal training in journalism and to me it was a farfetched dream only, but then my passion for writing overpowered all fears and created a sense of confidence and purpose in me. When my first article was published and I saw my name in the New Era newspaper I was overwhelmed and ecstatic, to say the least. The more my friends, family and acquaintances congratulated me, the more I was inspired to write more.
Once again I realised that continued learning and living a life of purpose is what should drive us on a daily basis, because there is no other way than to invest in your own development in order to live a successful life of purpose and be content with life. To my fellow Namibians, life is all about challenges, the choices are ours and we as Christians know that God never puts something in your way that you can’t handle.
My journey at New Era has been very pleasant, educating and inspiring and I look forward to the future.
