KAPAKO – Twenty-two members of the All Peoples Party (APP) from Dudu and Kapako villages in Kapako Constituency last Thursday rejoined Swapo at a ceremony held under a tree.
Kapako is located in Kavango West, 110 km east of Nkurenkuru and Frieda Siwombe is the constituency councillor for Kapako.
Siwombe said 22 men and women requested a meeting and she decided to meet them last Thursday with the intention to welcome them back into the fold of the ruling Swapo Party.
“They came to show themselves that they no longer belong to APP but are back to Swapo as they realised that Swapo is the only party they can rely on,” narrated the Kapako constituency councillor.
Siwombe told the APP defectors that she was happy that they realised that they were misled by the minority APP but she was happy they made the right choice “to come back home”.
The Kapako Constituency councillor further told New Era that people in her area notice the development brought by the Swapo-led government such as roads, rural electrification and the provision of free education for all Namibian primary school learners.
She also said the Mbunza tribal office wasn’t operational in the past but it has been renovated and is up and running with tap water and electricity. “People have brought their proposals for community projects and we have made them a reality through the Kavango Regional Council, and some other projects have been brought to the constituency and people are benefitting – the health centre and clinics are up and serving the health needs of the people,” she said.
“People see the development and progress of Swapo and thus want to come back home to support the party that is progressive and handing over the presidency peacefully from one president to another,” Siwombe said.
