WINDHOEK- Fishing company Namsov yesterday donated N$7 million to the 14 regional governors’ trusts, as well as N$20 million to the Ministry of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development to implement various regional development programmes.
Yesterday’s donation, through the Namsov Community Trust, is in addition to the N$15.12 million that the Namsov Community Trust availed for community development, health and welfare this year alone.
“Let us create a Namibia where we share – sharing with communities the ownership of our companies is
something we do because it is right and we do it willingly. Therefore, the cycle of wealth creation and distribution should drive Bidvest Namibia to participate deliberately and voluntarily in the necessary campaigns of improving the lives of Namibian people,” said the chairperson Namsov and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bidvest Namibia, Sebby Kankondi, at the company’s disbursement of social dividends in Windhoek yesterday.
The Minister of Regional and Local Government, Housing and Rural Development (Rtd) Major-General Charles Namoloh urged the governors to use the funds to establish coping mechanisms consistent with strategies for poverty reduction.
“Your mission now is to ensure that with this support from Namsov, you must deepen and sustain the improved socio-economic performance of the country by harnessing science, technology and innovation,” said Namoloh.
