WINDHOEK – Considering its contribution towards the Gross Domestic Product, the tourism sector is the fastest growing industry in Namibia. It has also been identified as a strategic sector in the National Development Plan 4 with promise of growth and job creation.

It is against this background, Standard Bank Namibia recently invested a total of N$65 000 to the Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN).

The congress and gala event is scheduled to take place on the Novermber 20 and 21 at the Windhoek Country Club and Resort.

“We have for long had a mutually beneficial relationship with HAN. At Standard Bank, we believe that by supporting HAN we can help the tourism industry achieve its full potential,” said Surihe Gaomas-Guchu, Corporate Communication Manager at Standard Bank Namibia.
For every eight tourists visiting Namibia, one Namibian is employed in the industry. “You will agree with me that tourism, not only provides revenue for the economy but also the much needed livelihood for locals to support themselves and their families in a sustainable way,” added Gaomas-Guchu.

The theme for the 2014 HAN event is: “Taking you on a Digital Highway through Namibia”. This year HAN has four international speakers lined up for the Congress. The event will conclude on the 21st with the HAN Tourism Awards and Gala Dinner.
