Hole in One for FFF Fundraising Golf Day

Home Sports Hole in One for FFF Fundraising Golf Day

WINDHOEK – The Frank Fredericks Foundation (FFF) “teed-off” to a great start last weekend to mark its annual Fundraising Golf Day, with 20 corporate and individual teams showing off their golf skills in a bid to raise much needed scholarship funds for young talented local student athletes.

The event saw eleven teams walking away with lucrative prizes. Samsung through its local distributor Furntech Namibia partnered with FFF as its title sponsor whilst Pinnacle Metropolitan Empowerment Trust, Alexander Forbes, Coca Cola Namibia Bottling Company and Millennium Investment Holdings acted as supporting sponsors of the event.

Renowned former Springbok hero and Supersport presenter Ashwin Willemse competed in one of the Foundation’s teams as the surprise international guest. Willemse also gave a motivational speech to the guests and golfers during the prize-giving ceremony. He remarked: “Frank Fredericks was one of my heroes who had a significant impact in my life growing up and I didn’t hesitate to accept his invitation,” adding that the work of the Foundation goes above and beyond assisting (through scholarships) as it transforms lives while at the same time creating leaders of tomorrow to assist the next generation.

A lucky draw was held for the top eleven prizes in the spirit of the FFF event with 3 prizes proudly sponsored by title sponsor Samsung that saw members of each team walk away with 4x refrigerators, 4x washing machines and 4x microwaves.

Overall winners Super Stars’ team members comprising Adv. Gerson Hinda, Bonnie Paulino, Sherwin Vries and Joe Nawanga, each won Samsung washing machines (111 pts), while runners-up Saunderson & Co won Samsung refrigerators (111 pts). Plastic Packaging’s team quartet of Bennie Venter, Wolfie Duvenhager, Gerhard Walters and Danie Grobler) each walked away with Samsung microwaves (104 pts).

The remaining top eleven teams won prizes sponsored by Schoemans, Wecke & Voigts, Cymot, Namibia Breweries Limited, Primi Piatti and Adidas.
– Nedbank Namibia (108pts)
– Nampower (107pts)
– Omake (106pts)
– Namibia Breweries Limited (106pts)
– Blitz (103pts)
– Alexander Forbes Insurance (101pts)
– Titans (100pts)

A digital camera was awarded to E. Roos (Wecke Voigts) for the closest to the pin whilst another digital camera was awarded to I. Powell (Alexander Forbes Financial Services) for the longest drive.

The Foundation applauded Samsung and all the other supporting sponsors for the generous sponsorship towards the FFF Golf Day.
“We are looking forward to an even bigger event next year,” said Namibian icon Frank Fredericks, chairman of the FFF.
