WINDHOEK-The Institute for Capacity Development (ICD) has finished the skilling of 17 trainees from Namibia and Mozambique awarding them with certificates of competence in the Dunes Restaurant at the Kalahari Sands Hotel and Casino last Friday.

Fourteen participants were from Windhoek while three were from Mozambique. All the participants enrolled for a five-day day course in Energy Contracts and Occupational Health and Safety. Speaking at the launch, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, Elia Kaiyamo, says that, capacity building and development is a very critical enabler of economic development. The executive and implantation of development programmes requires skills and ICD is doing a very important task of complementing the government’s efforts in skills development. “The government of Namibia welcomes quality training programmes that enhance its capacity to realise its development goals. Given institution like ICD it would be ideal if the government could have a full database of training providers meeting the full statutory and fiscal requirements for the government,” says Kaiyamo.

Chairman of the ICD Rukee Tjingaete adds that it would be an understatement to declare that Africa will not attain its noble vision of economic prosperity without training and capacity development. “Africa’s vision and dream  cannot be attained without skills development for prosperity,” he says.
