WINDHOEK – The 16th Annual National Youth Expo organised by the National Youth Council of Namibia was held from October 3 – 5, 2014, in Grootfontein. This year’s theme was celebrating 20 years of Youth Development. The aim of the expo is to give young entrepreneurs a platform to exhibit their products. This year more than 250 exhibitors from different regions nation-wide showcased their products and services. The FNB Foundation sponsored an amount of N$100 000 for the event.

Tanja de Jager, Branch Manager FNB Grootfontein, said at the cheque hand-over on October 03, 2014, “As Namibia’s oldest financial services we cannot help but to get involved and contribute positively in supporting our government to steer the Namibian economic and financial agenda into the right direction this time around with the youth who are the future leaders. Our mission at FNB is to create sustainable wealth for all stakeholders through discipline, innovation, empowerment, value- added partnerships, and a passion for service. Our passion to particularly serve the youth is evident by our latest edition of the FNB banking app and the revolutionary e-wallet on your respective mobiles”.
She continued to say that FNB believed that some of the main challenges in the development of the SME sector in Namibia were access to financing, appropriate business management skills and access to markets. “SME’s are a driving force behind sustainable economic growth and this is particularly true for many countries in Africa where SMEs and the informal sector account for the larger percentage of businesses and contributions to the GDP of the country. We believe in Ubuntu and therefore help where we can to ensure that we build a great nation”.
