WINDHOEK – Founding president Dr Sam Nujoma yesterday stressed that more Namibian content should be aired on the local public television network.

He said too much foreign content is dominating local TV despite the fact that Namibia has so much to tell. Nujoma said business people should contribute towards ensuring there is more Namibian content produced locally. “TV is very educative. In our TV we don’t show anything about Namibian activities, why?” Nujoma queried.
He made the remarks at a press conference where Paragon Investment Holdings co-founder and comedian Lazarus Jacobs presented a cheque of N$140 000 to the Sam Nujoma Foundation. The money will be used to facilitate the tuition and travel costs of two female Namibian students who were admitted at a Chinese university.
The students are expected to leave for China latest in November. One of the students, 22-year-old Ndinelago Jeremia expressed her contentment for the financial support.
“I am very happy. It’s all God’s favour that I received this opportunity to study in China. I always wanted to study medicine and I am very happy,” she told New Era.
Jacobs told Nujoma the two students approached Paragon Investment Holdings for funding for their first year of studies and the organization felt obliged to respond.
Businessman Armas Amukwiyu said “as a nation we should educate our people ourselves. education is the key for a better future”.
Nujoma in receiving the cheques also stressed “education is the key to power”.
Jacobs also donated 100 copies of his DVD ‘Mind your own business’ to the Sam Nujoma Foundation, which will be distributed in the country’s 14 regions.
