WINDHOEK – The second Namibian Manufacturers Association (NMA) Manufacturer of the Year Awards Gala Dinner is scheduled to be hosted on October 23, 2014, at a local hotel in Windhoek. The main sponsor for this year’s event is First National Bank of Namibia.

The NMA says by honouring and recognising its members through a national annual event will inspire and motivate its members to increase the awareness of the high standard of manufacturing in the country and the important role the sector is playing in wealth and job creation in Namibia and in the rest of the Southern African Development Community region.
According to the NMA, entries received have exceeded the number and standard of entries compared to last year and the received entries have already been subjected to the first two rounds of judging. The first round of judging is done by the NMA to ensure that all members who entered in the different categories have paid up membership fees, while the second round is an evaluation by an independent panel of judges. This year’s judging process will include a visit to the workplace of the finalists to verify certain aspects of the information submitted on the entry forms. Accounting and auditing firm, Grant Thornton Neuhaus, will verify all marks allocated and will also verify the winners in each category.
Neil Jacobsohn, an energetic and entertaining speaker and also founder member and senior partner of Future World International, is expected to deliver the keynote address at the awards gala dinner with the theme, “Thriving inside the perfect storm”. Minister of Trade and Industry, Calle Schlettwein, is scheduled as the guest speaker. Elemotho, the international award winning Namibian musician, and his band will provide entertainment at the gala event.
