WINDHOEK- The Namibia Students Education Movement (NASEM) Secretary General, German Jaezuruka is urging learners and students across the country to work hard and to pass with flying colours in their year-end examinations.
“I urge student accross, specifically those in Grade 10 and 12 to work hard to prove to government that it is worth introducing free education at secondary level,” he said at the press conference on Thursday. This year the government introduced free education at primary level in all public schools across the country. It has further announced that it was considering to introduce free education in all secondary school in 2016.
Jaezuruka is further urging parents to get on board in support learners especially during the examination period. “There is no more excuses of not having money. All you need to do now is to support the [learners and] students during examinations,” he says.
“Examination time is the hardest time for students. Please make sure that students are well prepared,” he pleads advising students not take free education for granted but to use it as a stepping stone in turning their lives around.

Furthermore, Jaezuruka is highly concern with the high rate of school drop outs. “I do not understand why people are against students [studying] in China while here in Namibia students are roaming our streets? Therefore, I fully support of the statement by the Honourable Minister of Justice, Utoni Nujoma,” he stresses. “In the actual fact we should thank the Chinese government for taking our so-calledd failures,” he adds. He further urges student who are beyond 18 years to go out in numbers and vote in the upcoming National and Presidential elections next month.
“By introducing free education the current government has made it clear that it want to achieve is vision 2030, there is very important that we all vote,” he added.
Jaezuruka uses the opportunity to comment those parents who gave their children the chance to added last semester summer school.
“These parents allowed their children’s to attent classes while on holidays and this shows maturity among our communities, this is very commendable,” he said, adding that others to follow suit.
NASEM is a non-profitable organisation which help student with advice and it further help school dropout getting back to classes.
