WINDHOEK – Namibia Football Association (NFA) President John Muinjo is urging Namibians from all walks of life to purchase the national team replica jersey and rally behind the Golden Brave Gladiators in their quest to host a successful event, when the 9th edition of the African Women’s Championship gets underway in Windhoek next month.

The Namibian football supremo says local players’ morale will he highly boosted if all Namibians purchase the Brave Gladiators’ replica jersey and wear them notably on Fridays to spice up the mood.

“We need to have the women’s championship fever going and as Namibians we can add motivation to our team and push them to greater heights by rocking up in the team’s replica jersey. The team needs our support and we have to show them that we are behind them and believe in them, it is the right thing to do at the moment.”

He also called on senior government officials and corporate executives to support the campaign and take ownership while encouraging their employees to get behind the team. Muinjo is highly confident that Namibia has what it takes to go through the group phase despite being in a tough group.

“We know Group A is tough with Zambia, Nigeria and Ivory Coast, but our team is at home and if we all support them, they can attain unbelievably joyful results. Self-belief and support and trust by your friends, family and compatriots are necessary ingredients for success and the team can use that.”

Algeria and Ghana already arrived in Namibia last Sunday, while the Confederation of African Football (CAF) delegates are expected to arrive in Namibia this weekend with the remaining five participating teams expected in Windhoek from the 7th of next month.
