WINDHOEK – The sports club DTS is to host the 3rd annual football youth tourney, at the club’s sports ground in Olympia on Saturday.
Kia Motors is once again the principal sponsor of the youth competition through an amount of N$5 000 for the one-day event with additional sponsors from Martin Krafft and Doc Munz.
Up and coming footballers from six different clubs will battle it out in the U7, U9, U11 and U13 age groups, with 8 to 10 teams in each category.
The following clubs have confirmed their participation: Ramblers, Swallows FC, SKW, Otjiwarongo and hosts DTS.
The under-13 age category is likely to offer spectators something special, since these youngsters will be competing in the multipurpose hall, which is normally used for inline hockey and volleyball. The smaller playing field with tailored rules will add more spark to the tourney.
Another new venture at the tourney is the introduction of awarding each and every player a medal, irrespective of their teams’ position. Beverages and food will be on sale during the day’s proceedings.
