WINDHOEK- Swapo Party member of Politic Bureau, Jerry Ekandjo, has urged Namibians to vote for his party’s presidential candidate, Dr Hage Geingob, for continuity.
Ekandjo, who in 2012 contested for the Swapo candidacy against Geingob and Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana, said Geingob will continue the legacy established by former President Dr Sam Nujoma and incumbent President Hifikepunye Pohamba in developing Namibia.
“We call on all voters to go out in our numbers to vote Dr Hage Geingob,” Ekandjo said, while addressing a rally in Katutura last Sunday.
“Go and vote for Dr Hage Geingob so that he can continue where former President Dr Sam Nujoma and President Dr Hifikepunye Pohamba left off,” he said. Ekandjo also admonished Swapo supporters to refrain from violence during election campaign.
“Avoid provocation at all cost, if somebody provoke you ignore them,” he said.
“We want to maintain 100% win, please make sure you vote,” he said.
Ekandjo called on communities to do everything in their power to avoid any violence in pursuing their civic concerns.
“It is grossly inappropriate to disrupt campaigns, for any reason,” he said, adding that everybody had a responsibility in maintaining peace.
He said Swapo is the only party that can maintain peace and stability in the country, hence the logic in voting for the ruling party in the upcoming election.
He added that people can say whatever they want, but come November the people of Namibia will have the last say.
“Swapo is going to win all 96 seats,” he said.
Ekandjo said Swapo Party has proven itself for the past 24 years therefore there is nothing else to prove, “what we have preached is what we have done, the peace and stability we enjoy to today is because of Swapo,”
“We have nothing to promise to the nation, we have proven our self for the past 24 years, our manifesto is there to tell the story,” he said.
“I urge each and every one of you here to put a cross on Comrade Hage Geingob for him to win overwhelmingly,” he said. He assured the supporters that the Swapo Party is the only party in this country that can united the masses.
