Home Farmers Forum SWAKARA Forum had a busy week

WINDHOEK – The SWAKARA Forum had a busy week with its Annual General Meeting which was held on September 23, the gala dinner which was held the evening and the auction on September 24 where after the SWAKARA Board also met.

The week was attended inter alia by Ditte Sorknaes of Copenhagen Fur who gave an overview about the world pelts industry and SWAKARA’s position therein and also Mr Mike Moser of the International Fur Federation who spoke about the situation of anti-pelts movements and animal activists.

During the gala evening the top achievers of SWAKARA producers were awarded in various categories. The top producer for 2014 was Hendrik Duvenhage who inter alia won a sponsored trip together with his wife to Europe. Johan Moller of Upington in SA was awarded for the top SWAKARA ram and ewe.

The auction which was held on the 24th brought a big surprise when a white SWAKARA ram of Malcom & Louise Campbell of Farm Lovedale was sold for N$64 000. The other high prices which were achieved clearly indicate the interest and boom which SWAKARA experiences in Namibia.

The gala dinner which was held in the school hall of the Keetmanshoop Private School was very elegant as usual and commercial, emerging and communal farmers gathered there socially.
