WINDHOEK – Brave Warriors midfield ace Lazarus Kaimbi reckons being active for one’s club will be beneficial for the national team as long as the national technical team keeps track of the progress of all players in their respective leagues.

Kaimbi who is one of the senior players deemed good enough and included for the international friendly on Wednesday night against Swaziland, says the pressure is on the players who want to wear the national team jersey to up their game and contest starting berths at club level.

“This can be good because it will increase competition for players in the national team as well. We have to cement club football and by playing against various opposition, you can then add value to the Brave Warriors. But on the other hand, they (technical team) have to follow what we do and also because you are not playing there might be other reasons and all these need to be considered as well,” Kaimbi says.

The Thailand-based midfielder who plays for Bangkok Glass is looking forward to the friendly against Swaziland on Wednesday night at 20h00 at the Sam Nujoma Stadium.

“It’s good for our rankings to play international friendly games especially on FIFA dates and I’m also looking forward to seeing the youngsters called up in action to see what they can bring to the table. We have so much talent in this country and I know they will give their best. I only know Wangu (Gome) and have to see the others out,” said Kaimbi.
