WINDHOEK-Twenty-two-year-old Namibian born model Meriam Kaxuxwena has been crowned the Best Popular Catwalk Model at World Miss Bikini Model International hosted in China about a week ago.
Meriam showed her excitement on her Facebook fan page the day after she was crowned saying she couldn’t believe walking away with the crown and she is very happy to be recognised as best popular catwalk model on the international level. Not so long after scooping the title of the African Finest Fashion Show, hosted by Eva Miarka last month, Meriam says her career has been growing and wherever she has since been on the catwalk, she seems to be turning the judges’ heads
Miss World Bikini is a modelling organisation established 27 years ago and has been giving fashion, beauty culture and tourism prominence, focusing on different individuals from different countries over the world. The event started by organising local shows, which later then evolved into international contests in various countries. Last year the organization crowned Namibia’s model, Leena Shindondola, as World Miss Bikini. Meriam’s modeling career kicked off in 2006 when she was crowned Miss Valentine. In 2007 she was crowned Miss Augustineum High School. She says growing up she always admired models on the catwalk. “Whenever I was watching TV, paging through a magazine or newspaper and saw a model, I would picture myself instead of the model,” she says.
