WALVIS BAY – The corporate communications manager of the Namibia Ports Authority (Namport), Liz Sibindi, has left the company to pursue a MBA in Maritime Logistics Management at the Australian Maritime College of the University of Tasmania, Namport said this week.

Sibindi said she felt that it was important to pursue a career in the maritime sector judging from its evident growth.

“The industry is compelled to manage business and processes in a smarter, more efficient and environmentally sustainable way, while continuously increasing profits and adding value to the regional and local economy. In this regard, Sibindi will certainly be an asset to the maritime and logistics industry in the country upon completion of her studies,” Namport said in a statement released yesterday.

“Sibindi joined Namport in September 2011. During her time as corporate manager of communications, Sibindi enhanced the identity of the Namport brand externally, shaped our stakeholder relations and communication function, connecting all levels effectively internally and externally.”

Another employee of Namport, Heritha Muyoba the human resource executive and one of the influential women in the maritime industry has also decided not to extend her contract with Namport.

Her contract expires end of September 2014.

Gail Hill, the manager of finance also tendered her resignation and will be leaving at the end of August 2014.

A statement released by Namport says the contribution made by the departing executives would be missed.

“They productively headed their departments in the organization, in developing and implementing various policies,” Namport said.
