WINDHOEK – Swapo has increased the reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects involved in the recent burglary of the party’s headquarters in Katutura, from N$20 000 to N$35 000.

During the burglary on 2 August the thieves got away with “confidential documents,” together with staff laptops, cameras, a TV set and N$18 000 in cash.

One of the laptops contained minutes from previous Central Committee and Politburo meetings.

Current Politburo members are the president of Swapo, Hifikepunye Pohamba, the vice-president of Swapo, Dr Hage Geingob, the secretary general Nangolo Mbumba, the deputy secretary general Laura McLeod-Katjirua, eighteen members from the Central Committee and two other appointed members.

Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said the police are requesting anyone with information that may lead to the arrest and prosecution of the criminals to contact the Khomas regional crime coordinator Deputy Commissioner Sylvanus Nghishidimbwa at 081 338 5358, or Detective Chief Inspector Amakali at 081 365 8404.

Alternatively those with information may contact the nearest police station.

The public are assured that their information will be handled with utmost confidentiality.
