RUNDU – Mungeli Joseph aged 24 is called the “radiator doctor,” because he repairs and cleans vehicle radiators at Rundu in Kavango East.

The “radiator doctor” is young and ambitious.

Recently Rundu has seen exponential growth and this has resulted in many residents of the town opting to buy cars and this in turn results in more customers seeking Mungeli’s services.

Mungeli became familiar with radiator repair services after he went to ask for a job at Rundu Radiator Services at the SME Park in Rundu.

“I came to seek a job and after a while the owner called me in and then I was trained on how to do the job as well as the types of equipment used. I like the job, there is no problem,” he says.

Rundu Radiator Services is a small business in Rundu which specialises in radiator services and they repair and clean all radiators ranging from the ones in small cars, big cars and the big ones for heavy duty vehicles such as trucks.

He says learning how to repair and clean radiators wasn’t difficult at all as he is a fast learner.

“I didn’t know anything about the job but my boss John Shakuza taught me well and now I work alongside him. I assist him with fixing and cleaning of our clients’ car radiators daily and I am glad he taught me as I can now put food on the table.”

Mungeli who was working when a New Era journalist visited the workshop said he can service up to nine radiators in a single day though he admits the job can get tough and tricky.

“It’s not a walk in the park my friend,” he says.

When asked what his future plans are, he says he would like to study at a vocational school so that he could learn how to make radiators not just repair them.

“Clients come in with their problem radiators and we make their day by  being the solution,” he concluded.
