WINDHOEK – Twenty-seven years old Kristine Sheetekela, a Botswana High Commissioner employee, who allegedly stole from her employer, was granted bail of N$2000 by Magistrate John Sindano on Tuesday in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court.

Sheetekela was arrested on Saturday. She faces a charge of theft, the charge indicates that she allegedly stole from the Botswana High Commissioner a pair of Gucci shoes, 10 000 Cinq Mille Francs, BWP31.70, 11 Kwanza, US$350), in the lawful property of Omphile Sedume.

She informed the court that she pleads not guilty to the charge. The matter was remanded to August 8.

Prosecutor Nasilele Siyambango requested bail of N$4000 and for Sheetekela to report herself to the Serious Crime Unit every Monday and Friday between 08h00 and 17h00.

Sheetekela informed the court that she couldn’t afford bail of N$4000, but she is able to pay N$1000. The prosecutor then replied that the items have not been recovered and the total value of the items still need to be determined.

In the end Magistrate Sindano reduced bail to N$2000.
