WINDHOEK-Multi-award winning Kwaito star, Martin Morocky, aka The Dogg, has signed a music deal with the Nigerian reigning MTV African Artist of the Year, David Adedeji Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
Davido officially announced the deal on his Instagram Page immediately after all the representatives from both Mshasho Records and HKN Music signed the agreement at Da Vinci Hotel and Suites on Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, South Africa last Friday. According to the Chief Executive Officer of Mshasho Records, Knowledge Iipinge, the main highlights of the deal includes amongst others a collaboration on a song, which will appear on The Dogg’s next album, Davido’s concert in Namibia on a date yet to be announced, marketing of Namibia as a ideal tourist and business destination to attract investment, increase trade, develop and expand the country’s industrial base and artists’ development initiatives to be implemented mainly for upcoming artists via the Mshasho Record label and HKN Music (record label co-owned by Davido and his brother Adewale Adeleke).
“Our chief vision with this project is to contribute to the long term development of the Namibian music industry, and in so doing, achieve more international recognition, especially in larger music markets such as West and East Africa, Asia and the United State of America (USA).
Ipinge adds it was a great platform for the Mshasho Records to sign a deal with the international acclaimed artist Davido, as he is currently the reigning MTV Africa Music Awards Best African Artist of the Year. Davido is also nominated for the BET Awards in the Best International African Act category and for the African Muzik Magazine Awards (same awards in which The Dogg and Tunakie is nominated). He is nominated in the categories of Africa artist of the year, Song of the year, Best Male West Africa, Best dance in a video and Best collaboration categories. Davido is currently bragging huge following on social networks which serves as an essential marketing tool for reputable companies such as MTN and Guinness in Nigeria, with whom he has endorsement deals worth millions.“Thus, with all the above in mind I wish to call upon Namibian corporates, government and institutions dealing mainly in industries such as tourism, advertising, transport and hospitality to support our local artists export marketing initiatives such as this one, which can also have massive spin off effects on the increase of the Namibian economy at large,” says Ipinge.
