WINDHOEK-The Designer Fashion Show Season 4 has been scheduled for July 5 at the Protea Hotel Fürsternhof during which models and designers will be honoured with awards.
Event organiser, Hendrina Shikalepo, says on the night after the runways and showcasing of different collections, the season’s best three designers will be awarded as well as Best Newcomer Designer and Best Female and Male Model on the night. She adds Namibian young designers are back with a bang and working hard collectively to put the local fashion industry on the next level and marketing platform for themselves. “The designer’s fashion shows, which have been doing well over the past years started from Season 1 by attracting a multitude of fashion lovers. [Season 4} is in full gear and getting ready to amuse their audience with their creativity attires,” she says.
This year the fashion show will be hosted under the theme, ‘Namibian material culture’, with inspiration from different Namibian cultures. Designers such as LSK Creation, M-Creation, Leni Clothing Line, Proud Proud Design, House of Madawa to mention but a few are working around the theme “Namibian material culture” to be in cooperated in their collections. “Not that any larger group of designers are participating in this event, but about ten designers have already registered and more are still expected to come. We are encouraging the public, Ministry of Youth, and private organisations to support us in our initiative, as we strive to uplift the Namibian fashion industry,” says Shikalepo.
