WINDHOEK-Kapenangutjiua Vetira is a young ambitious woman empowering and educating Namibian youths in the arts industry and encouraging them to perform better in their school works.
Born 24 years ago in Okahandja and bred up in Otjiwarongo, Vetira attended her lower education at Spes Bona Primary School and went to high school at the Paresis Secondary School in Otjiwarongo. She graduated in African Performing Arts (Dance, Music and Drama) at the College of the Arts recently.“I am a Dance Teacher by Profession, a Dancer and Choreographer. I started performing at the age of ten years old and used to Model, Dance, Choreograph and Sing,” she says.She says her passions in the art industry started when she used to organise few and little events like beauty pageants and talent shows for the little children, at the age of 14 Years old. “This has been my passion to see children performing and I made sure there was always something going on at my high school,” she says.
Currently she is a Founding Director and Chairperson of ChiNamibia Arts Education as well as the Director of Children Arts Education World (CHAREWO) an international organisation founded by Dr Robert McLaren from Zimbabwe. “I managed to Run the ChiNamibia smoothly and see it growing in my eyes from a baby to a toddler to a teen with the aim of growing it with no limits.”
Last December, Vetira and ChiNamibia management managed to take 30 children to Zimbabwe. This February they hosted International Mother’s Language Day and Marimba Workshop sponsored by the National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN) in March. “In my free time, I especially empower young girls to be strong and self sufficient, help them to grow their self-esteem and self confidence, give them platform to perform and do what they love most when it comes to dancing, studying and make them aware of the different career possibilities that are in the art industry,” says Vetira.
