WINDHOEK – This coming Saturday’s boxing tournament at the Omuthiya Park in the Oshikoto Region under the auspices of the MTC Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy has taken on a wholly new dimension, according to promoter Nestor Tobias.
Namibia’s leading boxing promoter says the tourney will be a perfect platform for a number of professional boxers to up their stakes in the world rankings. The boxing bonanza, the first of its kind in that neck of the woods, has on its menu a host of mouthwatering undercard bouts featuring some of the finest upcoming professional boxers in the business.
The main undercard bout features local boxing’s blue-eyed boy and World Boxing Organization (WBO) champion Tyson Ushona against Ebenhaezer Lamptey from Ghana. Undefeated Baluka Simon will be out to continue his newly found supremacy in the bantamweight division, when he squares off against Abner Mwafangeyo in a non-title six-rounder for their 3rd encounter. In the other all-Namibian bouts, Kapena Naidjala will be out to prove that his recent victory over Imms Mungandjela was no fluke, when the two welterweight rookies clash in a rematch over four rounds.
The featherweight confrontation between the unbeaten Sakaria Lukas and Immanuel Andreki also promises to have all the ingredients of a real humdinger, when the pair trade leather in a non-title six-rounder, while Japhet Utoni should have little trouble seeing off Amagola Angula in their flyweight bout over 6 rounds.
