WINDHOEK
– After the ultra-successful competition held last year, the Miss Kavango organisers are back and now searching for the next contenders for the prestigious title.

The pageant themed ‘Stop Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Teenage Pregnancy (TP)” aims to unlock the youth’s  creativity, educate them on several issues affecting the youth in the regions and to help them to be excellent representatives and role models of the Kavango communities. “We are not only looking for beauty but we want flexibility, confidence and a role model,” says Ortmann Josef, Chairperson of Miss Kavango pageant organising committee.

Contestants must be aged between 18 and 25 and from the Kavango regions’ areas. The winner of the pageant will carry out a project on  Gender Based Violence and Teenage Pregnancy among the communities and schools of both Kavango east and west with help of the Ministry of Youth, National Service Sport and Culture  and  the regional councils.

“We are still looking for funds to help the event be a success and to reach the aims and objectives of the pageant,” says Josef. Application forms are available form any Youth Centre, constituency offices, Rundu University of Namibia campus, Namibian Broadcasint g Services (NBC) Rukavango Language Service. Deadline for all application is May 10. For more information contact Josef at 0813241416 or at misskavango@yahoo.com
