Rixi Appel has devoted her entire life to arts. She started out as a performing artist in music and it was only later in life that she discovered visual art as a medium of expression. Initially, Rixi Appel did mostly portrait studies with black models, using oil pastels. Later on, she included nature and tried her hand at various other artistic media. After her youngest son passed away, she stopped painting for about 18 months, and it has been only recently that she has again started to express herself artistically. From Monday 25 September to Wednesday 11 October, the FNCC will be presenting Rixi Appel’s first solo exhibition, which is dedicated to the memory of her son, Lynton Jean Rabie.
