By Staff Reporter WINDHOEK The CEO of First National Bank (FNB) Namibia Holdings, Adv. Vekuii Rukoro has announced the appointment of Phillip Shiimi, as Head of Treasury. In a statement Tuesday, FNB said a well-versed Namibian, who has a reservoir of banking experience, was now leading its treasury. The bank said, in support of FNB Namibia Holdings’ growth strategy in Namibia, it services international and regional clients and provides client solutions across its extensive branch network. “The FNB family is confident that Shiimi’s appointment will further these objectives. Along with his experience and commitment to the development of the Namibian financial markets, Shiimi will provide FNB’s treasury with strong leadership and managerial expertise in this competitive commercial environment,” FNB said. Before joining FNB Namibia Holdings, Shiimi worked as Director: Financial Markets Department at the Bank of Namibia. In this role, he gained extensive skills in managing the central bank’s foreign exchange reserves. FNB said his wide-ranging economic research experience and capable management of financial instruments at the central bank would be invaluable in its quest to become a world-class financial solutions provider in Namibia. Shiimi holds a Masters degree in Financial Economics from the University of London, a B. Comm (Honours) from the University of Cape Town and a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Namibia.
