By Staff Reporter The Sands Hotel was recently awarded two prestigious PMR awards by Professional Management Review (PMR) – Southern Africa’s leading research-based business journal. The awards aimed to showcase companies, government departments and individuals perceived as stimulating and developing economic growth within the country. Organisations and individuals eligible to receive PMR Awards were recognised across Namibia as symbols of excellence. The recipients of the awards qualified by being either receiving the highest rated or most nominations by their peers for achievements or initiatives in various categories. At the awards ceremony, the Kalahari Sands received the following awards: Golden Arrow Award for Best Casino and Entertainment venue in Namibia First over-all Golden Arrow Award for the Best Hotel in Namibia. Meanwhile, the General Manager of the Kalahari Sands Hotel and Casino, John Airey, has announced that the hotel is undergoing N$30-million refurbishment and another N$2.5 million will be spent for a complete upgrade on the lift, which will encompass security access and voice interaction. Work commences next week. Last week guests saw the opening of the Platinum Prive, an exclusive area for MVG Platinum Card holders and invited guests where they can enjoy a more upmarket and private gaming experience. Airey said: “It’s part of our Grand Old Lady’s extreme make-over and she is certainly rolling back the years! Sun International remains fully committed to its Namibian investment and their commitment to seeing the Kalahari Sands.”
