By Kuvee Kangueehi Windhoek Former Cabinet Minister and Swapo Party war veteran the late Richard Kapelwa Kabajani will be accorded a State funeral. Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dr Albert Kawana, yesterday afternoon confirmed to New Era that the Head of State Hifikepunye Pohamba has signed the letter that gives approval for a State funeral. Kawana said a memorial service will be held for the late Kabajani on Friday afternoon at Parliament Gardens and the funeral will take place at Heroes Acre on Saturday morning. The former Minister of Transport died last week Thursday in Katima Mulilo. The 64-year-old retired politician collapsed at his residence on Thursday evening and died shortly after arrival at hospital. It is reported that he died of heart failure. Kabajani, who held various Cabinet portfolios including Minister of Lands and Resettlement and Minister of Youth and Sport, was born on February 15, 1943 at Ivilivinzi village in the area of Kabulabula in far eastern Caprivi. He was part of one of the first groups from Caprivi to leave for exile and left in 1964 through Zambia to Tanzania, where he lived for a long time. Kabajani was also part of the Swapo Party Consultative Conference which was held at Tanga in Tanzania over the Christmas and New Year holidays of 1969 -o 1970. Kabajani is survived by his mother, wife, five children and five siblings.
