OSHIKUKU – The Oshikuku Town Council and the Windhoek municipality deepened their relationship by signing a twinning agreement last Thursday, exactly a week ago.
The five-year twinning agreement was signed by Oshikuku mayor Mbockoma Mungadjera and City of Windhoek mayor Agnes Kafula in the presence of Windhoek CEO Niilo Taapopi, Oshikuku CEO Julia Kakwambi Nakale, as well as councillors from both towns and other stakeholders. The occasion represented a unique opportunity for networking and the exchange of experiences and ideas on a variety of issues of common interest. The focus areas for the cooperation agreement are waste management, economic development, as well as property and land management among others. Mbockoma said the town of Oshikuku is encouraged by the twinning relationship formed and expects it to flourish.
Kafula said Oshikuku as a town that is strategically located between Oshakati and Outapi requires a lot of improvement and therefore hopes that the outcome of the agreement will stand to direct optimal resources to the development of the town and the community. “We need to start planning our towns properly for the benefit of our future generations. Oshikuku is lucky to be in its early stages as a town,” Kafula said.
