WINDHOEK – Local archers will be back in action this weekend when they meet at the SKW sports grounds for the annual Afro Pumps shooting competition, to mark the first official competition of the 2014 season.
The tournament once again includes both re-curve and compound divisions, with the majority of archers competing in the latter with a total of 20 archers in action. Participants will get a chance to practice and test their equipment tomorrow before going head-to-head on Saturday at 08h00 where they will compete in a 720 Round (72 arrows of 10 points each).
Based on the results of the 720 Round, the archers will be seeded accordingly and then move to the elimination rounds where even the slightest of mistakes can make the difference between victory and defeat. “We’re happy to be back in action this weekend. It’s a good opportunity for our archers to see where they stand at the beginning of the new season,” said the tourney organizer Karola Woortman.
