The Windhoek Comedy Festival (WCF) and Comedy Hour are set to present a Namibian election-themed comedy show in Windhoek this weekend.
The event, scheduled to take place at the Village Opera House on 24 November, is anticipated to deliver an evening filled with humour and laughter.
The show promises to deliver sharp political humour in anticipation of the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Comedian Mark Kariahuua expressed excitement about this inaugural collaboration.
“The WCF and Comedy Hour are delighted to host a remarkable evening of humour and political satire at the ‘Political Punchlines: A Namibian Election Comedy Show’,” he said.
The WCF stands as a premier celebration of comedy, highlighting both established and emerging comedic talents from Namibia.
Comedy Hour is a monthly live stand-up event held at Vinyls Music Cafe (Zoo Park) in Windhoek, which has been showcasing over 30 comedians since its inception in September 2021.
These comedy events are recognised for their diverse combination of panel discussions and live performances, as well as a unique masterclass tailored for both creatives and comedy aficionados.
Launched in 2023, the initiative presents a range of live acts, workshops and panel dialogues designed to entertain, inform and inspire attendees.
The aim is to cultivate a greater appreciation for comedy, and its power to unite people.
This year, WCF is collaborating with Comedy Hour to present an evening of unrestricted comedic expression.
Kariahuua remarked “As Namibia prepares for the Presidential and National Assembly elections, this comedy show is set to offer a refreshing and humorous take on the political scene”.
The night promises to be filled with sharp commentary and amusing stories, featuring performances from headliners Iileka, Zita, Lifa, Axarob, Mark Kariahuua and Courage The Comedian.
