WINDHOEK
African soccer legend, Abedi Pele, paid a courtesy call on President Hifikepunye Pohamba at State House on Friday.
Pele is in Namibia with the cup that will be contested at the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Accra, Ghana.
Welcoming Pele and his delegation at State House, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Albert Kawana, on behalf of President Pohamba said sport is becoming an important contributor to economic development and a source of livelihood to many.
Because of that, the President said youths should be assisted to excel in sports of their choice.
The President was happy that the Brave Warriors would participate in the Africa Cup of Nations 2008.
He urged the team to show exemplary behaviour, while also calling on managers and administrators to provide all the support to the team.
