Local boxing promoter and trainer Imms Moses yesterday said his boxers are excited and raring to return to the ring this weekend.
His stable, AC Boxing Promotions, will host their much-awaited bonanza at the NamPower Convention Centre in the capital.
The event, which is slated for Saturday, will comprise a total of 10 bouts, and will see the young and promising Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo taking on David Shinuna in a junior lightweight contest, which will be the main fight of the evening.
The bout will be supported by Alfeus ‘Mosquito’ Shaanika and Hedison Nghipondoka in the welterweight national title eliminator match, which will be 10 rounds.
Speaking to this publication yesterday, Moses assured that spectators should brace themselves for a night of thrilling boxing action, and an all-out display of talent from the stable’s many youngsters.
He particularly expressed satisfaction with the readiness of the boxers, saying they are all eager to return to action after a prolonged hiatus. “Preparations are going well and we are looking forward to Saturday night. I believe the boxers are prepared and ready to take to the ring. Looking at their fitness level, one can clearly see these guys are ready and hungry to compete come Saturday night,” said Moses.
He added that they also plan to use the bonanza as a platform for the various youngsters to showcase their talents and improve their records.
“It’s a great opportunity. Most of the boxers in the line-up are young and vibrant, and so it would be a great opportunity for them to improve their records. They should make use of such an opportunity to grow themselves and we are just here to help in that space.”
Tickets for Saturday’s boxing bonanza are pegged at N$200 for general tickets, and N$15 000 for a table seating eight people.
