Windhoek International School learner Iuze Limbo (18) only took up modelling earlier this year but already landed a high-profile gig when she strutted her stuff at the MTC Windhoek Fashion Week which took place two weeks ago.

Limbo exhibited several designers’ creations on the runway, and described the experience as exhilarating.  “There is a rush of adrenaline; a beautiful moment to be confident by expressing yourself in a manner that suits the piece you are dressed in,” she told VIBEZ!.

The AS-level learner said she embarked on modelling as a way to explore the creative world and experience different emotions when she struts down the catwalk – emotions such as nervousness, anxiousness as pre-runway jitters.

Limbo noted that although she is still very much focused on her books, she wants to use modelling, which does not have a set structure, to help others gain interest in modelling.

“I want to pass on the knowledge that I gain from my modelling experience to anyone who wants to pursue a modelling career.”

She added that modelling helps one create and explore different physical elements, such as facial expressions, the pace of walking and movement of one’s body to synchronise with the designs and rhythm of the music played during the runway show.

“I convey the designer’s story through exploring facial expressions and moving in a way that my silhouette recreates the designer’s collection while pacing myself to the tune of the music.”

“Modelling allows one to be expressive through portraying the inspiration and story behind the designer’s collection with the way one walks on the runway,” she added.

Limbo said her confidence got an extra boost from the Kala Crochet summer/spring collection by Wilhemina Iimene, saying its vibes and comfort gave her room to be body positive.

The young model stressed that beauty pageants and modelling competitions are not her main; she wants to study abroad.
