Access Bank warriors recount Lagos banking experience

Access Bank warriors recount Lagos banking experience

Last year, 40 ambitious Namibians embarked on a transformative journey to Lagos, Nigeria to sharpen their banking skills at the Banking School of Excellence through the Access Bank entry-level training programme.

After completing the programme, Access Bank warmly welcomed them back to Namibia.

The bank expressed pride in the group, highlighting their dedication, perseverance and pursuit of excellence, which has inspired many and exemplified their commitment to representation.

Kuku Shivute reflected on their journey as challenging but exhilarating.

“The journey was truly intense and long; by God’s grace, we succeeded. My advice to future trainees is to mentally prepare themselves, as this will be one of the toughest experiences you face, but you will learn so much,” said the applied development economics graduate.

Another trainee, King Hiholike, described the programme as rigorous, emphasising the need for effort, dedication and commitment.

“Perseverance is essential; stay motivated. I advise trainees to prioritise teamwork – as a study group, as it’s difficult to go through this alone,” said the software developer.

The programme offers on-the-job training, alongside three months of practical experience at Access Bank Plc, complemented by three months of intensive classroom instruction at the Banking School of Excellence to provide trainees with essential banking knowledge.

Project executive Oluseun Onasoga remarked that Access Bank takes pride in selecting the 40 graduates for this exclusive programme, which presents unmatched opportunities for growth and development.

He elaborated the programme features only the brightest minds from the global institution, ensuring that any banker who completes the training can compete with top international bankers and excel professionally.

Onasoga added that the programme covers various banking models, including financial analysis, complex financial structures and trade finance, among many others.
