Accident claims lives north of Otjiwarongo

OTJIWARONGO – Three people died in an accident when the driver lost control over the vehicle they were travelling in while overtaking another vehicle on the B1 road some 20 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo on Sunday.

The Namibian Police’s Detective Chief Inspector Timotheus Gabriel informed Nampa yesterday that two men aged 31 and 36 died on the spot, while a 41-year-old woman died at the Otjiwarongo State Hospital shortly after she was admitted in critical condition.

The 46-year-old male driver sustained slight injuries and received medical treatment at the same hospital, he said.

“The deceased persons were identified as Abner Kandjimi, Jacob Hamutenya and Ndateelela Shilongo,” said Gabriel.

Their next of kin were informed.

Jacob was the head of the Agro Marketing and Trade Agency (AMTA) for the northern regions and deputy chairperson of the National Youth Service (NYS) board. He, amongst others, also served as a board member of the Namibia Agronomic Board.
