The Confederation of African Football conducted the draw for the African Schools Football Championship and Cosafa qualifier yesterday, in Stellenbosch, South Africa, with the championship slated for 5 to 7 December 2025 in the same town.
The Namibian boys’ and girls’ teams will play their first matches against South Africa and the second against Zimbabwe on 5 December 2025 and on 6 December, team Namibia will face Mozambique.
Off the pitch, several initiatives such as safeguarding workshops for youngsters, a young reporters’ programme and referee and coaching programmes will be held.
The winners of this year’s CAF African Schools Football Championship and Cosafa qualifier will walk away with US$100 000 with the runners-up taking home US$75 000 and the bronze medallists getting US$50 000.
The prize money is meant to be used for infrastructure development at schools and or invested in educational and sporting aids for their learners. -newsroom@nepc.com.na
