Our aim is to collect points, not focus on Tigers – Woody

Home Sports Our aim is to collect points, not focus on Tigers – Woody

Windhoek

With the second leg of the MTC Namibia Premier League (NPL) 2015/2016 season kicking off this weekend, Black Africa coach Woody Jacobs has warned his charges not to pay too much attention to league title rivals Tigers, but rather to focus on collecting maximum points this weekend.

Speaking to New Era Sport yesterday, Jacobs said their aim is to focus fully on making sure they maintain a healthy run by collecting maximum points with every chance that comes their way, rather than putting themselves under unnecessary pressure by blindly chasing Tigers.

“The players are not yet fully fit, so I don’t want to put them under too much pressure this weekend. The plan is to go out there, enjoy ourselves and make sure we collect the six points at stake this weekend.

“I know a lot of people have picked Tigers as huge favourites to win the league title this season and it’s true, they have quite a great chance of winning the title, but as you know, it’s football and you really never know what might happen along the way”, said Jacobs.

“But we will take it game by game on our side and improve in certain areas as we progress. Self-perfection is the keyword. I have faith in my boys. They are players capable of winning the league title should Tigers slip up, so we are ready and have our eyes fully fixed on the ball.”

Coach Jacobs will, however, be without the reliable services of midfielder Leroy Adams and defensive midfielder Mervin Araseb and leftback Ananias Gebhardt this weekend.
