The Secretary General of the Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) Elijah Ngurare has confirmed receiving five computers from Albatrunca Investment Holdings Limited, contrary to a recent report in a free weekly newspaper.
Ngurare told New Era that the owner of the company Moses Kairimuti donated five computers to the SPYL. The company pledged to give the same number of computers to the Khomas Regional Council.
Moses Kairimuti, owner of the company, said the five computers donated to the Khomas Regional Council were delivered immediately after the Swapo Youth League Congress. However, on the day of delivery the Swapo Regional Coordinator Michael Mwinga requested the computers should be temporarily kept at Albatrunca considering that the regional council offices were broken into and he felt it was still unsafe to keep computers there.
According to Kairimuti, the three computers that were supposed to be given to the council will be donated to the Sam Nujoma Foundation and the remaining two to Namibia Today.
The ten computers are valued at N$40 000.
Apart from the ten computers, Albatrunca would support the building of the Swapo headquarters by availing an amount of N$100 000 from which N$10 000 was a pledge towards the fund to defend former President Sam Nujoma and three others in a case lodged with the International Criminal Court (ICC) by the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR).
Ngurare viewed the allegations made in a recent media report as “very bad.”.
He added: “When a young person is trying to do something, it is not good to try and break that person. He really gave the computers.”
Kairimuti said the report was aimed at destroying him and anything that is good and will benefit the masses.
Albatrunca Investment Holdings is a Namibian company that is primarily involved in imports and exports from around the globe.
They mainly import and export electronic equipment such as flat screens, televisions, computers and speakers, all under the brand MOQ.
He revealed that towards the end of this month the company will also launch Mocell, a cellphone and accessories franchise.
Albatrunca Investment Holdings, with its head office in Windhoek, consists of several divisions and specialises in electronic equipment, media, construction, property and security.
Kairimuti says Albatrunca’s mission remains to become one of the premier business houses in the country contributing to the overall growth and development of its economy.
“We strive to achieve the goal of Vision 2030, and thus are religiously committed to the principles of black economic empowerment, in order to transform the way the country’s economy is governed and to address and redress the current economic imbalances that are prevailing in our economy at present,’ he added.
